As City of Annapolis Ward 3 Alderwoman and Mayoral Candidate for 2025, here is a list of activities I have participated in, meetings I have attended, and events I have supported in the month of May 2025:
Attended the Annapolis Maritime Resilience Initiative (AMRI) Community Presentation, presented by the Eastport Civic Association, at the Eastport U.M. Church, with a focus on Wards 6, 7, 8
Testified before the City’s Planning Commission in support of AutoZone—a business to be built at the exact location where Chris’ Charcoal Pit was destroyed by Tornado Ida on September 1, 2021, Ward 3
Chaired the Public Safety Standing Committee meeting, where the focus of the meeting was on Ward 3
Participated in a Town Hall, along with my mayoral opponent, with the prospective residents in Providence Point, Ward 4
Attended and participated in the City Council’s monthly Transportation Standing Committee meeting
Attended a meeting with representatives of the Thomas Sommerville company’s property, along with our Ward 3 Community Liaison, regarding their revitalization and expansion plans, on Sommerville Road, Ward 3
Walked in the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade and attended and participated in the African Diaspora Festival
Attended and participated in the two monthly City Council meetings
Veterans Center Open House | May 13
Attended and toured the Veterans Center’s Open House, Ward 2
Attended and participated in the Community School Steering Committee meeting for Germantown Elementary School—"a Committee that aims to bring together parents, students, teachers, staff, and esteemed community partners who play a crucial role in supporting the school”, Ward 2
Attended the monthly Caucus of African American Leaders meeting, Wiley H. Bates Legacy Center, Ward 4
Attended and participated in a Site Visit at the HAWK Beacon on West Street, at the Busch Library, regarding public safety, especially for our students who cross West Street, in response to a Germantown Elementary School student recently being hit by a vehicle in close proximity to that location, with attendees representing the Germantown-Homewood Civic Association and area students, as well as the Maryland Department of Transportation, State Highway Administration (MDOT, SHA), and State, County, and City elected officials and staff, and our Ward 3 Community Liaison, Wards 2 & 3
Older Americans Month Celebration at PMRC | May 15
Attended Anne Arundel County’s Older Americans Month Celebration, Pip Moyer Recreation Center
Attended and participated in the Annapolis Anne Arundel Financial Education Coalition (AAAFEC) meeting—an organization that I co-founded over 7 years ago
Initiated, attended, and participated in a Public Safety Assessment Team meeting, with Safeway Management (Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager), APD Captain Thacker (Patrol), and Ward 3 Community Liaison Debbie Odum, in response to a consistent and persistent theft/shoplifting problem, Ward 3
Bay Ridge Gardens Town Hall | May 15
Attended and participated in the community of Bay Ridge Gardens’ Public Safety Town Hall, with Guest State Senator Shaneka Henson, Ward 7
Attended and was an Alderwoman Vendor at the Eastport Elementary School’s Family Night, Ward 8
Attended and spoke at the Annual Leadership Anne Arundel’s Neighborhood Leadership Academy (NLA), Maryland Hall—where NLA class members understand how to engage with their elected leaders and better understand the overall process of advocacy for issues of critical importance to their communities, and focusing on Prioritizing and Problem Solving
On behalf of Historic Annapolis and in celebration of Historic Preservation Month, stopped by the Brewer Hill Cemetery Tour, and spoke with several attendees, Ward 2
Celebration of Women in Leadership Brunch | May 18
Attended the “Celebration of Women in Leadership Brunch”, for U.S. Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth, Ward 1
Attended and participated in the monthly Audit Committee meeting
Attended and participated in the Anne Arundel County meeting with Adam Greenstein, et al., regarding Safe Routes to Transit Study, the meeting was held at the County Riva Road complex
Attended and participated in the “Community Conversations: Hate Crime Awareness”, and focusing on “Access, Health, Prosperity, Safety”, AACPL, Busch Location, West Street Branch
Attended, participated in, and represented the Mayor at the monthly promotion ceremony for the Col. Mary S. Feik Composite Squadron of the Maryland Wing of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), Salvation Army Building, Hilltop Lane, and presented the awardees with a City Council Citation
Attended and participated in the Anne Arundel County Executive’s Quarterly Interfaith Advisory Council Meeting, virtual
Attended and participated in the City Council Work Session to discuss the submitted budget amendments created by the Finance Department from the ideas and recommendations submitted by the City Council members
Town Courts Spring BBQ | May 24
Attended and participated in the “Town Courts Spring BBQ”, along with the Ward 3 Community Liaison, Ward 3
American Legion Cook-Pinkney Post 141’s Annual Memorial Day Celebration | May 26
Attended the American Legion Cook-Pinkney Post 141’s Annual Memorial Day
celebration, at the World War II Memorial in Annapolis
Attended the “Conversation with Seniors”, from U.S. Senator Angela Alsobrooks, at the Annapolis Senior Center, Ward 4
Parren J. Mitchell Dedication | May 28
Attended the “Parren J. Mitchell Memorial and Dedication”, along with our Ward 3 Community Liaison, Pip Moyer Recreation Center
Attended a “Summer BBQ”, hosted by the Management Team, Allen Apartments, along with the Ward 3 Community Liaison, Ward 3
