As City of Annapolis Ward 3 Alderwoman, here is a list of activities I have participated in, meetings I have attended, and events I have supported in the month of March 2025:
Coffee with a Cop, Annapolis Police Department | March 3
Attended and participated in “Coffee with a Cop”, Annapolis Police Department, at Leeward Market, Ward 8
Met with members of the Annapolis Dragon Boat Club founded by Mike Ashford for Breast Cancer Survivors, regarding my tenure as a community leader, Alderwoman, and candidate for Mayor, regarding outreach by the ADBC to Breast Cancer and other cancer survivors in Annapolis, and any other area supportive entities, nonprofits, etc.
Met with an Eastport couple at their home regarding Horn Point and Waterfront Lateral Lines
Truxtun Skate Park Groundbreaking | March 3
Attended and participated in the Groundbreaking for the Truxtun Skate Park
Chaired the monthly Public Safety Standing Committee meeting (Police, Fire, and Office of Emergency Management), in-person at City Hall, where the focus was on Ward 8
Caucus of African American Leaders Monthly Meeting | March 4
Attended the monthly Caucus of African American Leaders meeting, Wiley H. Bates Legacy Center, where Anne Arundel County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Mark T. Bedell was the Guest Presenter and his Team
Annual Membership Appreciation Event and Project Image Slide Show, Greater Annapolis Design District | March 4
Attended the Annual Membership Appreciation Event and Project Image Slide Show, Greater Annapolis Design District
Grandson King's Track Meet in VA beach - Plus 4 days of Fun | March 2025
Spent 4 enjoyable days in Virginia Beach with my family and our Grandson for his annual Track Meet Events—and he medaled—again this year
Attended and was asked to provide remarks at a resident’s homegoing
Attended and participated in the two monthly City Council meetings
Morgan State University, Visit to the Office of the President | March 12
Traveled with the Mayor and his Team, as well as a full busload of high school students, for an all-day visit to the Office of the President, Chief of Staff, for Morgan State University, Baltimore, regarding a preliminary discussion concerning a partnership as it relates to Morgan’s aquaculture research program and other environmental stewardship possibilities
Attended and participated in our monthly Transportation Standing Committee Meeting
MD Hall Capital Campaign Event | March 13
Attended “Opening Night of Act 3, Scene 1, of the Capital Campaign”, at Maryland Hall
Read the entire City Charter and City Code—cover to cover (after reading it
intermittently over the past 11 years), 1,218 pages (excluding certain technical
portions—procurement; building inspectors; etc.)
Attended and participated in the monthly Audit Committee meeting
Met briefly with the owners of Black Market Bakery, Edgewater, who intend to open a business very soon in the City (Ward 3)
As the City Council’s Public Safety Standing Committee Chair, attended and participated in the Mayor’s Press Conference regarding the recent homicide on Clay Street; and immediately thereafter, met with the Chief of the Annapolis Police Department, and began to draft a preliminary public safety plan for the City, etc.
Robinwood Community Housing Partners Redevelopment Meeting |
March 19
Attended and participated in the Robinwood community’s “Community Housing Partners Redevelopment Plan” interactive meeting, along with the Housing Authority of the City of Annapolis’ (HACA) leadership, HACA Board leadership, Resident Council leadership, as well as City Staff leadership
Met with one of the leaders within the Annapolis PRIDE organization
Parole and Vincent Streets Sidewalks Project - Punch List On-Site Meeting | March 20
Attended and participated in the On-site Team Walk-Through with the City, County, and private Contractors, regarding the completion of the punch list items for the Parole and Vincent Streets Sidewalks Project (as initiated by Anne Arundel County Public Schools); and we ended the meeting with Lunch downtown
Attended and participated in the monthly City Council Work Session, City Hall; Agenda: Fiscal Year 2025 (7/1/24-6/30/25) Changes in the City Staff’s Exempt Service, Job Classifications, and Executive Pay Ranges
The Almost 7:30 Democratic Breakfast Club Meeting | March 21
Presented before “The Almost 7:30 Democratic Breakfast Club” Meeting, Eastport Democratic Club, regarding: “We are very interested in hearing about your candidacy for Mayor of Annapolis” (which my Campaign Team video recorded and is on my Campaign website)
Spent an entire weekend with family celebrating our Grandson’s 10th birthday
Met with 2 County residents for the purpose of them gaining my insights as to how Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ redistricting will impact Walter S. Mills-Parole Elementary School in Ward 3
Clay Street Community Listening Meeting - First Baptist Church |
March 25
As a result of the recent homicide, and as the City Council’s Public Safety Standing Committee Chair, attended and listened during the “Clay Street Community Listening” Session/Meeting, First Baptist Church
Met with the City’s Department of Planning and Zoning regarding a home proposed to be built in Ward 3
Lilly's Printing Visit | March 26
Visited with my friend Lilly, owner of Lilly’s Printing, who was one of the businesses that suffered immensely as a result of Tornado Ida, September 1, 2021, in Ward 3, was displaced, and is now back in her new place of business in Ward 3
Met with a Team Member with the Banneker-Douglass-Tubman Museum and the Maryland Commission on African American History and Culture, as a part of a State- wide study, regarding my perspectives and specifics on the Museum—its past, present, and future
Was asked to meet with several community partners regarding a variety of collaborative events that are held in the City—working through some challenges, issues, etc.
Was invited to appear and be interviewed on Mr. Armand Wallace’s Podcast “Legends from the Past and Future” regarding my Mayoral candidacy
Attended and participated in our Semi-Annual Meeting with our State Highway Administration, our City of Annapolis’ Planning and Zoning Department and Department of Public Works’ Leadership Teams, and accompanied by U.S. Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth’s District Director, as we received Congresswoman Elfreth’s approval and blessing to proceed with the State Highway Administration’s “Pedestrian Safety Action Plan” (P-SAP Study) on West Street (Rt. 450), which will include the West Street corridor: Beginning at the Goodwill Super Store at Legion Avenue (where the roadway
transitions from 2 lanes to 4 lanes), and ending at the intersection of West Street (Rt. 450) and Route 2
City Department of Transportation’s "E- Bus Launch" | March 27
Attended the “Annapolis E-Bus Launch”, at the Pip Moyer Recreation Center
Blacks of the Chesapeake New Carr’s-Elktonia Stakeholders Vision Meeting | March 28
Attended and participated in the “New Carr's-Elktonia Stakeholder Vision” Meeting, in- person, hosted by the Blacks of the Chesapeake Foundation, at the Philip Merrill Environmental Center, home of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Annapolis
