Dear Friends of Rhonda Pindell Charles,
I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for Alderwoman Charles’ consistent presence and engagement throughout the construction phase of the Parole Vincent Sidewalk Project. Having managed construction projects for nearly 20 years, I have never encountered a politician who has taken such an active interest in a project of this scale.
Compared to the large-scale bridge and highway construction projects I typically oversee, this project is relatively small and non-political. However, I was truly impressed by Alderwoman Charles’ dedication. She not only contributed to discussions regarding construction progress, field changes, punch list items, and project closeout, but she also engaged directly in the field—speaking with contractors, meeting with residents, and asking thoughtful questions to ensure the project’s success. Her genuine concern for the community and commitment to ensuring a smooth process for homeowners was evident in every interaction.
Today, I had the opportunity to ask her what motivated her deep involvement in this project. She shared, “This is where I grew up. My family has been here for a long time. It bothers me to see people in my neighborhood unable to safely walk down the sidewalk. Mothers struggle to push strollers over uneven segments, and elderly couples are forced to walk along the street due to tripping hazards. I want to make sure these residents can do basic things safely. I owe them that.”
Hearing a politician speak with such sincerity and conviction was both refreshing and inspiring.
Finally, I want to clarify that my appreciation for Alderwoman Charles’ efforts is entirely non-political. As a Republican living in Harford County, I cannot vote in this election and have no political affiliations in this race. My intent is simply to acknowledge and commend her exceptional dedication to this project. It was a pleasure working with her.
Respectfully,
Larry Hughes, CCM
Associate Vice President, Wallace Montgomery
